background, CV and contact details

I was born in Cardiff in 1964. I grew up in Roath, Cardiff, went to school at Howardian High School, studied History at UCW, Aberystwyth and I have an MA (distinction) in The Teaching And Practice of Creative Writing from Cardiff University (2010). I've directed and written many radio programmes for BBC Radio Wales including the situation comedy series: 'The Fishford Observer', 'Favorites' and 'Pub Globo'. I've written short stories for BBC Radio 4 and plays for Radio 4's and Radio 2. I've written widely for children, working as a scriptwriter on CBBC's Story of Tracy Beaker and S4C's The Baaas and writing the succesful Rugby Zombie books for young readers.

My work is often characterised as funny, quirky and full of ideas. I think that there is something quite sad about the fact that life, ultimately, is comic – either that or it’s indescribable.

As well as writing, I facilitate workshops on script and story writing for schools, colleges, organisations and universities., I teach Creative Writing at Cardiff Metropolitan University. In schools and colleges I work with pupils from year 6 and up, developing creativity, oracy, literacy and confidence. Often my school workshops are focussed on the delivery of a specific product.
I also write on intellectual property for the UK Intellectual Property Office, the World Intellectual Property Office and recently structured and wrote the new website for the European trade marks and design registry - OHIM.
